Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a cellular redox cofactor studied in laboratory systems involving energy metabolism, enzyme activity, DNA-maintenance pathways, and intracellular signaling.
Pathway studied
NAD+ is not a receptor ligand. Laboratory research examines its role as a redox cofactor for dehydrogenases and as a substrate for sirtuins, PARPs, CD38, and related enzymes.
